This is a special section about Faye and Spike.
Despite the love she thought she lost in the past (My Funny Valentine),
Faye finds a new love. Her relationship with Spike, in the beginning,
was rough and hostile, but she grew to love him. She admired him,
and possibly even saw herself in him.
Even though both characters flirted , the real affection was only
one-sided. Spike is found smiling at, watching out for, and even
possibly admiring Faye.. and most obviously, he does feel sorry
for her and pities her situation. Faye loved Spike and tried to
take care of him and look out for him.
Spike, on the other hand, did not share these feelings, as he was
always in love with Julia.
Some people may argue that Spike loved Faye as well, but as long
as he had Julia, he would never betray her.
We see hints of her affection and adoration for Spike on several
occasions. When Spike falls out of the window in episode 5, Faye
takes care of him.. Well.. kind of. Besides pummelling him when
he calls her tone-deaf.. And in the episode with Pierrot le Fou,
not only is Faye concerned for Spike's well-being, but again, she
takes care of him when he's beaten and battered. Isn't it always
Faye who bandages and nurses Spike as long as both of them are on
the Bebop?
The final admission of her love for Spike arrives in episode 26,
when Spike leaves the Bebop to certain doom. Faye's ship is disabled,
and Jet's leg is damaged, as he was shot. Faye demanded that Spike
stay with them and live a happy life, but he ignored her. She started
crying silently, and shot her gun into the air, but he still left.
It was one of the saddest moments in the series, in my own opinion.
